There can be no better book to understand the 20th century politics of Europe and the West and their priorities for the ensuing century than to go through the collection of articles in this excellent edition of Foreign Affairs magazine.

It is a compilation of articles by very eminent intellectuals like Harold Laski, Isaiah Berlin, Leon Trotsky, Francis Fukuyama, Shlomo Avineri and several others. Covering almost a century from 1923 to 2012 these articles give the reader a magnificent inside view as well as the ringside view of the historical and political developments of the last century.

If you want to understand Fascism, Nazism, Communism and Liberal Democratic politics there can be no better book than this.

For a keen student of international politics like me this has been a valuable and eye opening reading.
