Campaigning for the June 1 elections to the six Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in Manipur has gained momentum with political parties trying to woo voters by displaying their symbols across the streets.
While the poll fever has gripped the five hill districts of Manipur, hosts of BJP’s national leaders were rushing to the state for electioneering.
National general secretary (Coordinator, NE States) Ram Madhav of the party was busy travelling across the hill districts to take part in party’s election rally and two BJP’s central ministers arrived Imphal for the same purpose.
Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju and Union minister of state for human resources development Ram Shanker Katheria arrived Sunday on their two-day visit in Manipur. During their camping, the two ministers are scheduled to attend an election rally of the BJP scheduled to be held at Chandel district headquarters on Monday.
The arrival of the two ministers was amidst the hectic electioneering of the party by concentrating its leaders in poll-bound areas since the last few days.
The saffron party is reportedly eyeing the ADC polls with all seriousness and looks to open account by winning some seats. In the 144 seats together in the six ADCs, the party is fielding its candidates in 121 seats.
In its efforts to garner maximum seats in the ensuing ADC election, BJP national general secretary (Coordinator, NE States) Ram Madhav is touring the hill districts.
